What is Kshan?
Kshan is a background time tracker for desktop. It watches which app and window you have focused, classifies that activity into categories, and turns it into a Focus Quality Score so you can see how your day actually went — without manually starting or stopping timers.

How it works, in short
- Kshan polls the active window in the background.
- Each app, website, or window title is matched against category rules (yours or the built-in defaults) and recorded as a session.
- Completed sessions roll up into hourly and daily summaries, which power your dashboard, charts, and Focus Quality Score.
- Everything is stored locally first — cloud sync is optional and configurable per data type.
Where to go next
- Install Kshan on your machine.
- Read how automatic tracking and the Focus Quality Score work.
- Set up calendar & task integrations if you want your schedule and backlog inside Kshan.
