What is Kshan?

Kshan is a background time tracker for desktop. It watches which app and window you have focused, classifies that activity into categories, and turns it into a Focus Quality Score so you can see how your day actually went — without manually starting or stopping timers.

How it works, in short

  1. Kshan polls the active window in the background.
  2. Each app, website, or window title is matched against category rules (yours or the built-in defaults) and recorded as a session.
  3. Completed sessions roll up into hourly and daily summaries, which power your dashboard, charts, and Focus Quality Score.
  4. Everything is stored locally first — cloud sync is optional and configurable per data type.
